Artist's Statement
"My work, here oil on canvas, may be seen as a shared experience of half-a-century of daily exposure and study of the greatest artists in the world be they Benin or French at The Barnes Foundation.
The viewer with a trained eye and a background of rich visual experience will be rewarded. The qualities perceived hold a life-long sensitivity to refinement, beauty, and luxury, be it surroundings, experience, or environment. Those qualities perceived in the works are intended to grow over time regardless of surroundings or fashion."
In 1994-95 as Head of Conservation at the Barnes Foundation, I was responsible for the insurance values of the 82 paintings that travelled ($3.6 Billion) to Washington, Paris, Tokyo, PMA, and Munich. This job caused me to work with a vast number of people. From uncrating at each venue, inspection, hanging, and minute inspection before re-crating for the next venue.
