Artist's Statement
Throughout history goblets not only have been used for drinking purposes, but also have been created as elaborate trophy pieces. I have always had a great attraction to and respect for the Venetian style because of its elegant, elaborate and ornate designs, as well as its difficulty to make. I enjoy the process of goblet making in the same way that an athlete loves his sport.
Although I consider myself a conceptual artist, I am truly a craftsman at heart. This work is a way for me to fine-tune my skills and to deepen my appreciation for Venetian glass.
